Malta and Sicily tours

The catamaran departs Malta at approximately *0700hrs for the 90 minute crossing to Sicily. Arrival at Pozzallo, a typical Sicilian fishing village, with its imposing Cabrera Tower from the 15th century.
Departure for Catania with your local guide in an air-condtioned luxury coach. On the way we pass Noto, the baroque capital of Sicily; Siracusa, with its world renowned Greek and Roman monuments and Catania, the upcoming commercial city.

Taormina was discovered by the British aristocracy in the mid- 1800s. Facing Etna and the blue Mediterranean, this peaceful panoramic resort, 206m above sea level was colonized by the Greeks who built a theatre in the Hellenic period - 3 B.C. The present Teatro Greco, altered by the Romans, is the venue for classical plays every summer. The main street, the elegant Corso Umberto, with its cafés, restaurants and boutiques is a bustle of nationalities.

Time at leisure in the city centre to enjoy the unique views from the Belvedere, overlooking Giodini Naxos, the first Greek colony in Sicily (8th century B.C.) and now a yachting centre. Time for lunch (not included in the price). Then, drive up to Mt. Etna

Mt. Etna, the largest and most active volcano in Europe. The climb to the crater takes us through picturesque villages and an ever-changing landscape. The lower slopes of the volcano are extremely fertile with groves of oranges, lemons and other Mediterranean flora and of course vines which produce Sicily's best wines.
We go through forests of chestnut trees which gradually give way to oak, beech, birch and pine up to Sylvester Craters (about 2000 mtrs) and the Rifugio Sapienza.

Time for souvenir shopping and or just relax with a panoramic view of the vast base of Mt Etna and and the effects of more recent eruptions.

Our return journey to Pozzallo takes us across the Iblei mountain range and over two of the most spectacular bridges in Europe, with a bird's eye view of the Baroque city of Modica, a gem of baroque architecture.
We depart from Pozzallo
by high speed catamaran at 21:30 hrs. On arrival in Malta, your transport will be waiting to return you back to your hotel.
