| Noto
- Syracuse | Full
day excursion. In the morning guided tour of Noto.
The town, once the main center of the Val di Noto, is one of the nicest
baroque towns in the world. The old town laid in the same place of Noto Vecchia,
that was destroyed in 1693 and then rebuilt in the present site only 8 km eastwards.
The major monuments stand in the three parallel streets that form the center
of the town and form, together with the crossroads, a sort of a grid seen from
above. Lunch in Siracusa.
Syracuse
is one of the most enchanting coastal towns of the Mediterranean sea; it also
has a very glorious past and important monuments.
See the Greek theatre and Roman anphitheatre, the Latomie,
the Ear of Dyonisius, Orthigia with the Duomo (once the Temple
of Athena) and the Fountain Arethusa.
We will provide you with all the details about the tour and the timing according

| Caltagirone
- Piazza Armerina | |
Full
day excursion. Caltagirone is today considered the capital of Sicilian
ceramics. It belongs to the province of Catania, but from a cultural and geographical
point of view it belongs much more to the province of Ragusa and aspires to become
an autonomous province itself. Its name is derived from the Arab (cal'at ghiran:
castle of vases) Hidden by hazel nut trees and oaks, the Villa del Casale
lies on a Roman road that was buried under an enormous landslide for over 700
years. This villa was built by Maximilian, co-emperor with Diocletian, between
286 and 305 a.C.. There is an everlasting discussion between archeologists about
the purpose of this building: some experts think it was a country residence; other
scholars think it was a hunting-lodge or one a recreation house for the commanders
of imperial legions | | Etna
